Recruiting volunteers in response to COVID-19
This page outlines information related to recruiting volunteers during COVID-19. For general information about keeping your volunteers safe during COVID-19, please visit the volunteering and COVID-19 resource page.
Recruiting volunteers in response to COVID-19
If your organisation needs more volunteers in response to COVID-19, recruitment can be done via the NSW Volunteering Recruitment Portal.
Your organisation can register for free or log into our NSW Volunteering Recruitment Portal.
If your organisation has a SEEK Volunteer account, you can use the same registration details on the NSW Volunteering Recruitment Portal.
We recommend that volunteering ads outline how the organisation is complying with NSW Government public health orders, including social distancing.
Volunteering during COVID-19
If you are interested in supporting essential service delivery, you can use the volunteer recruitment portal to search for opportunities.
It is important that you consider your health, safety and personal circumstances before you apply for a volunteering opportunity. If you are in a high risk category, you should not volunteer at this time. COVID-19 presents a more serious risk to:
- people aged 70 years and over
- people aged 65 years and over with chronic medical conditions
- people with a compromised immune system
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples 50 years and older with one or more chronic medical conditions.
The best thing you can do for your community is to stay home and safe.
Volunteer activities continuing during COVID-19
If your organisation is continuing to operate during COVID-19, you must have a plan in place to manage the risk of exposure to staff and volunteers.
