Australian Dental Health Foundation

The Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF) offers a rewarding program for dentists to volunteer their time to help disadvantaged members of the community. The Australian Dental Health Foundation has over 130 volunteer dental practices around Australia supporting the program.

One of the Foundation’s long-term supporters, Chatswood Dental Care, has volunteered for over ten years. Twice a year Chatswood Dental Care host’s a Dental Rescue Day for patients who have compromised oral health through the effects of neglect and drug and alcohol abuse. Dr Tim Hart, Dr Steve Cross and their staff have the expertise to deal with extreme issues, and the Dental Rescue Day provides an opportunity for sharpening this skill set, restoring patients’ teeth and helping them to regain a sense of self-esteem.

The outcome of the volunteer dental program can be significant, enabling patients to improve their speech, oral health, self-esteem and presentation, while helping them to become self-sufficient members of the community.
