Volunteer stories

Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is an organisation with about 1500 volunteers of which 300 are regular volunteers who offer food, health services, social and welfare services, literacy programs in schools and employment training pathways. 

Since 1933, the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW Inc. (UHA) branches have fundraised continuously for patient comfort and care for health facilities within their communities. 

D-Caf is a creative volunteer involving initiative that supports people with dementia, their carers, family and friends.

Story Dogs mission is to make reading fun for children, so they become confident lifelong readers. Story Dogs recruits, accredits, trains, places, and supports volunteers and their dogs into their local primary school delivering 1000's of one-on-one reading sessions each year targeting year two children who, for whatever reason, are struggling with their reading. 

BlowFly Cricket is a warm, inviting, accepting, non-judgmental, caring, all-ability, inclusive cricket club that caters for children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities of all abilities, ages, genders, races, and cultures. 

Beyond social connection and a deeper connection to their local community, the Fairfield community nursery teaches volunteers other important skills. 

WIRES Volunteers are dedicated to helping rescue and rehabilitate native Australian wildlife and are trained how to safely handle wildlife species and transport them for assistance. 

Across NSW more than 20,000 volunteer surf life savers dedicate time to ensuring beach goers can enjoy the surf in safety. 

BlazeAid is a volunteer based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods.

Delta Society Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation with one core belief: that the human-animal bond remarkably improves our quality of life. Delta Therapy Dogs is a heart-warming program that brings the joys and comfort of animal companionship to those who need it most.
