Special Event Volunteering
Some volunteers prefer to volunteer their time for specific events rather than give their time on an ongoing basis. It can be very satisfying to be part of making a one-off event successful and helping event attendees have a great time and or raising money to support a particular cause or charity.
The NSW Government website lists upcoming NSW events and is a useful starting point for people interested in looking at a range of event opportunities.
Local councils usually have information about local event volunteering on their website. Go to your local council’s website and search for “volunteer” using their own site’s search functionality. The NSW Government’s Local Council Search will be able to tell you which NSW local council area you live in.
Non profit organisations often post their upcoming events on the NSW Centre for Volunteering website. The Centre also has an existing pool of event volunteers for organisations hosting events. Click on the link to access events page.
Sydney will be hosting the seventh World Masters Games from 10- 18 October 2009. The World Masters Games are the world’s largest multi-sport event. Volunteers will be critical to the success of the Games and the organising committee is recruiting now. Find out more about volunteering for the Games.
