Melanie Openheimer - new Vita Activa series - Radio National

Dr Melanie Openheimer is an Associate Professor the school of humanities at the University of New England and is the creator of a series on Radio National - Vita Activa a series all about volunteering. Vita Activa translates as Active Life and series one and two ran on Radio National in 2007 and 2008.

Melanie teaches twentieth century Australian history and has written a number of books on the history of volunteering and on women volunteers in particular. She has recently published a book entitled Volunteering: Why We Cant Survive Without It.

From 6 July 2009 Melanie begins another series of Vita Activa about volunteering and how it's changing.
