About Us

The NSW Government’s volunteering web portal was developed by the Volunteering Unit, which is now a part of Communities NSW.

The Unit works in partnership with government agencies and the community sector to develop and implement policies and strategies that make volunteering easier and more accessible. 

Our focus is on increasing and facilitating opportunities for all citizens to participate in activities in their local community. We are focusing on 5 key areas:

1. making it easy to volunteer
2. attracting, training and retaining volunteers
3. diversifying the volunteer workforce
4. promoting the value of volunteering
5. supporting regional volunteering

Our aim is to continue our work with government agencies and the community sector and to develop practical resources that support volunteering.  We also aim to encourage and facilitate partnerships that will promote increased volunteering and community participation.
